Hippo Campus, a small band from Minnesota, is on tour again and this time they are promoting their new album “Flood.”
Hippo Campus is a Minnesota based band that was created in 2013. There are five main members of this band being Jake Luppen (lead singer/guitar), Nathan Stocker (lead guitar/vocals), Zach Sutton (bass/keyboard), and Whistler Allen (drums/vocals). As of 2017, they had DeCarlo Jackson (trumpet) join their group as well. Hippo Campus has a very different feel as a band, personally, it’s nothing I have ever experienced during a concert.
I had the opportunity to attend one of their concerts back in April of 2022 and it truly was one of the greatest experiences of my life. They were on tour for their newest album at the time, which was “LP3”. During this concert they had a range of songs from super upbeat almost rock like, but they had a range of slower songs that were upbeat but also soothing. Their songs that they produce have a different feel to them when you’re listening to them, and times that feeling by 100 when you’re listening to them in concert.
They are now back on tour currently for their new album “Flood” and I seriously recommend looking into this band. They’re set to come and play their last show on tour in Minnesota on May 31st. Any show of theirs is absolutely incredible, but the hometown shows always get a little more pizazz. Plus, their live performances are a perfect blend of high-energy anthems and intimate songs, making for a setlist that keeps the crowd engaged from start to finish.
They aren’t just singing to sing and get a check, this band puts so much work into their music and their relationship with their fans as well. When that first note plays for any song they start their set with, the atmosphere changes instantly, in an unforgettable way.
