Five in double figures as Golden Rams top Ridgewater

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team had five players score in double figures as they beat Ridgewater 90-89 on Saturday afternoon.


With the win, the Golden Rams enter a tie for second with Ridgewater in the MCAC Southern Division standings at 4-3.


Anoka-Ramsey led by eight, 45-37 at halftime before the Warriors started to take control.


Ridgewater took at 58-52 lead with 13:20 to play when the Golden Rams started to rally, tying the score 63-all.


Neither team led by more than three points until Anoka-Ramsey took a 86-82 lead with 1:27 to play.


A three from Ridgewater cut the deficit to one, then two free throws gave Ridgewater a 87-86 lead with under a minute left.


Two Stewart Jones free throws gave Anoka-Ramsey the lead again with 37 seconds to play and the Golden Rams held on for the win.


Jones finished with 21 points making 3 of 7 from three.


Austin Kunz tallied 18 points off the bench making 4 of 5 from three and 5 of 9 shots overall to go with six rebounds.


MJ Omot scored 14 points making 4 of 6 from three.


Akeem Nelson scored 11 points, and Andrew Chisley recorded an 11 point, 14 rebound double-double.


Anoka-Ramsey improves to 17-5 overall, and will travel to Minnesota West on Wednesday.
