Women's Basketball starts conference play 1-1

The Anoka-Ramsey Women's Basketball team began the MCAC Southern Division portion of the schedule by beating Ridgewater, before falling to MN West in a matchup of nationally ranked teams.
The Golden Rams went on the road to beat Ridgewater 75-53 behind 22 points and 14 rebounds from Mariam Alowonle, and 20 points and five assists from Anisa Longs.
Jada Lussier added 13 points with Destiny Casey chipping in nine points and nine rebounds.
Anoka-Ramsey forced 21 turnovers and held the Warriors to 31.7 percent shooting while connecting on 47 percent of their own field goals.
Anoka-Ramsey hosted MN West who came into the game ranked #3 in the nation, to the Golden Ram's #1 ranking.
The Golden Rams ultimately fell 62-59 after the Lady Jays closed on a 10-0 run to end the game.
Anoka-Ramsey managed just 31.5 percent shooting, and the Lady Jays went 23 for 28 from the free throw line and out-rebounded the Golden Rams 42-36.
Lussier scored 16 points. Alowonle and Longs each tallied 12 points.
