The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Soccer team started the 2025 season by hosting Northwest Iowa, and narrowly fell 3-2 against the NJCAA Division II squad.
Northwest Iowa scored early to take a 1-0 lead, but the Golden Rams fend off additional attacks and still trailed 1-0 at half.
Guillermo Vargas got Anoka-Ramsey on the board in the second half, tying the score 1-1. But the Thunder responded quickly, finding the back of the net to go back ahead 2-1.
Northwest Iowa would tack on another goal for a 3-1 lead, and the Golden Rams made things interesting after a beautiful goal from Fawzan Boukari pulled them within 3-2.
The Thunder though held on for the victory.
Anoka-Ramsey then traveled to Dakota County Tech on September 1 where they fell 2-0.
