Constitution Day is Wednesday, September 17. Also known as Citizenship Day, Constitution Day is an American holiday honoring the day 39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution. This historic date was September 17, 1787. Constitution Day is a day to recognize the value of the American experiment, and the rights and liberties of American citizens protected by the Constitution.
Constitution Day became an official holiday in 2004, and the next year the United States Department of Education backed the law when it announced that educational institutions which receive Federal funds should hold a program for students every Constitution Day.
