Twilight is the first movie in a set of five that are based off the book series by Stephenie Meyer. These books and movies have been a long-time fan favorite, and are still loved by many, even decades after their releases. In this article I will be reviewing the first movie in the series only, Twilight.
In this first movie, Bella Swan moves from Phoenix, Arizona, where she lives with her mom, to a small town in northern Washington called Forks, with her dad. It’s on her first day at her new school where she meets Edward Cullen, who is different than anyone she’s ever met before, he’s witty and intelligent, and seems to understand her in a way that no one ever has before. Though as time goes on, she notices some very odd things about him, Bella begins to do research on all the odd behavior she’s seen from Edward, and comes to only one conclusion, he’s a vampire. It’s only when she confronts him with what she knows that he confirms her suspicions and reveals the full truth of what he is and how it came to be.
After learning this truth Bella and Edwards relationship only grows stronger, as well as her relationship to his family who are also vampires. Though when Bella’s life is put in danger from a rival group of vampires, Edward and his family must risk their lives to protect her. Bella is attacked despite Edward and his family’s efforts to keep her safe, though Edward and his family make it to her in time to save her and defeat the other vampires. After this attack Bella is given the opportunity to return home where she is safe, but Bella chooses to stay in Forks with Edward despite the further danger it may bring. Once healed and returned home, Bella and Edward attend their high school prom, where Bella asks Edward the ultimate question; will he turn her into a vampire? Edward refuses to grant her request, leaving Bella confused and defeated.
I have been a long-time fan of the books and movies and consider them one of my favorites. This is only the first in this saga and is still filled with action and drama. As the saga goes on, it only continues to get more intense. After watching this movie, it’s clear as to why this saga is so loved by fans around the world.
