Men's Basketball Falls in Semifinals, Ends Season 21-8 Overall

The Anoka-Ramsey Men's Basketball team beat Northland 81-71 in the NJCAA Region XIII Quarterfinals last week, before falling to eventual champion Riverland 85-75 in the semifinals.
In their quarterfinal matchup, the Golden Rams forced 17 Pioneer turnovers and held a 17-4 edge in made free throws.
Five players scored in double figures led by Preston Thielke with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The Golden Rams trailed 41-36 at halftime, but opened the second half on a 18-2 run to take control.
Stewart Jones (16), MJ Omot (15), Akeem Nelson (13), and Dwayne Bryant (13) all reached double figure scoring.
In the semifinal loss to Riverland, Anoka-Ramsey shot just 39 percent overall to Riverland's 47.5 percent, and were outrebounded 44-26 by the Blue Devils.
Thielke scored 20 points, Bryant added 18, Omot 11, and Jamal Woods chipped in ten points.
Anoka-Ramsey ends the season 21-8 overall.
