Interested in anime? Wanting to get involved in Minnesota’s anime community? Come to

Anime Detour! Established around 2004, Anime Detour is known as Minnesota’s biggest anime convention. In downtown Minneapolis, Anime Detour is held at the Hyatt Regency and the Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center.


There are many ways to get to the event, such as where to park or using the bus routes to the venue. Booking a room at the hotel is another way to access. Anime Detour is open to accommodations and is willing to assist those with disabilities.


The convention is held for three days in honor of Japanese animation and comics. Anime

Detour has various events such as movies and costume competitions. This convention is open to everyone of all ages, as well as for others to dress up. The convention will also have vendors selling food and Japanese merch up to purchase, and many events to be involved in.


Anime Detour is sponsored by many businesses, including a blood drive by the American Red Cross. There are many things to do at this event, such as meeting characters from your favorite shows. As anime is done by various voice actors, there will be guests known from popular shows, such as Mira’s voice actor from K-Pop Demon Hunters. There will also be cosplay artists at the convention, known for their hand-made costumes and stage presence in competitions.


The convention is held on March 27th through the 29th, and from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
